Absence

I apologize, yet again my friends, for my absence on the blog. My family has been dealt yet another blow as we have just experienced the third death in my family in the past year and a half. Every time I think I get an inch closer to healing, something else seems to happen.

Onward…

I'll be posting images of that surprise I mentioned a while back this week! Sorry for the delay. The necklace above is a new piece that will be listed on etsy soon. Still debating on whether I should darken the piece with a patina yet or not… any thoughts?

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss! Honestly, if you need anyone to vent to, I'm here for you. I have been through quite a few deaths in my family, so I know how it can be. My best advice is to feel your emotions, and do your best to keep on with daily life.

When my dad died, I remember I felt so guilty for laughing, or feeling anything but sadness. After about a month or two, I decided it was time to get back to normal. I knew he wouldn't want me to be grieving that way. I still was trying to find a "reason" that he would die, and the best thing that happened was that one of my friends sat me down and said "Kat, your dad died of a heart attack. That's it. That's the only reason." The cut-and-dry of that realization gave me a lot of peace.

My thoughts are with you and your family...

and I love this piece :) I don't know about the patina...I think it would look great either way.

I am so sorry again for you loss. You have had a bad run haven't you? keep your chin up.

Re the patina, I think if it was black it might look a little too costume, whereas the silver reinforces that it is jewellery, does that make sense? of course I am sure it would look beautiful either way, I love that piece,

i'm so sorry. that's a lot to deal with. sometimes it really all does come at the same time. you're in my thoughts.

as for the metal, i like it bright. bright and springy. you can patina in the fall. :-)

I'm scared of the "everything happens in threes" theory. My grandfather just died and i only have three other relatives, all over 80. So, although i don't know exactly how you feel per say...i can understand how draining it is, trying to get back into a "normal" routine, to then again be thrown into another frenzy.

I agree with Alisa, her bright blue eyes are nicely accented by the shiny silver.

oh margaux, i am so sorry. i don't have any words of "wisdom" as i am very inexperienced with dealing with death. just know that there are a lot of people to reach out to if you need them.

and i agree with posts above....i like the bright silver. it is refreshing and perfect for spring!

(can't wait to hear about the 'other' thing!)

Thanks for all your kind words and thoughts ladies.

Catherine: I'm realizing just how much guilt is a part of the emotions that accompany death. An aspect I didn't anticipate I suppose. (Not that you can anticipate any of it, really.) I'm so sorry about your dad. I've enjoyed reading your recent posts about him and your experiences.

I think you have all convinced me to keep the necklace a bright, shiny silver for spring, thanks for your input!
