Progression of a custom commission

I thought I would share some of the progressions of a custom piece I've been working on lately…

(the lovely green eye is from this amazing Barbie doll I won on eBay a while back)

Today I'll be working on making the pin back and pendant bail. It will have the ability to be worn as both a brooch or a necklace.

The area colored black is from a sharpie marker. I'm toying with the idea of cutting those areas out (to create some negative space within the piece.) The rest of the recessed areas will get filled in with various shades of green/blue resins. More progress pics to follow soon. What do you all think?

hmm... I think more negative space would be interesting. Go with your instincts. You do great work.

Fab to see the process. I think some cut-outs would be interesting, then they would change colour depending on what was worn underneath.

Fabulous to see your design process - thanks! I think some negative space would work too and as others have said - trust your instincts - you know what you are doing!

Thanks all - I am going with the cutouts, I think it will add more dimension. I appreciate your comments! :-)
