can't wait to carve into these beauties!

A couple of my recent eBay acquisitions… can you believe those green eyes?! I have to say, they are The. Most. Beautiful. green eyes I've EVER encountered on a Barbie doll before (and I've seen A LOT of Barbie eyes!) Green is hard enough to find as it is, let alone a pair as stunning as these! (the photo really doesn't even do them justice.) I can't WAIT to make something out of them.

And here's a lovely, sultry blue eyed princess I also won. Love the deep red lips on both also!

My studio life has been CRAZY busy lately - filling wholesale orders and working on tons of custom work. Unfortunately, my etsy shop has really been neglected because of this. However I hope to remedy that ASAP. Thanks for your inquiries about new work… I promise I'll be listing again as soon as I can. So many ideas, so little time…

Happy February everyone!

The first Barbie is stunning! She is definately one of the most gorgeous Barbie dolls I've ever seen. I think I'd like to see whole of her face kept in whatever you chose to make of her... I just really like all her facial features alltogether! :)

do you realise you sound a bit like a psycho? "Wow, these eyes are gorgeous! Can't wait to pop them out of her skull!"

Wow! Margaux I just found your blog and your work is amazing - I love the concept and the construction of the jewellry and how you use the bits of the barbie works so well. Such a clever lady!

Thanks all - yes, sometimes I get excited when I come across really lovely dolls - but not so much about cutting them to bits (really truly) it's more about the excitement of being inspired to make new work out of them! ;-)

Julia - I agree, she is quite lovely as a whole, but I've found using the whole face is not quite as exciting visually in my jewelry (did it only once before for a custom commission and I didn't really love it) it sort of makes it TOO obvious that it's a barbie doll, if you know what I mean? I may have to hang on to her for a while longer though, she is so stunning.

Busy Bird - thanks and welcome!
