Out of the old, into the new

Well, it was a bittersweet goodbye. This week I moved out of my lovely large studio:

…into a lovely new one that's about half the size:

I'm still in the same building, however I'm on a different floor now. It only has one window as opposed to four in my previous space, but it is A LOT cheaper. Dave and I are trying to save as much money as possible right now, and I know this sacrifice will help us out financially. It was either downsize or get a studio mate and in the end I decided that I really didn't want to share my space with anyone else, I love working alone!

I'm really pleased with the new space. I was able to fit everything in (amazingly!) Despite having less natural light, it does have better overhead lighting, a ceiling fan (hooray) and because it faces a different direction in the building the afternoon sun will not be beating down directly in my face in the spring/summer months. I'm glad to be staying in the same building because it's VERY safe and secure, and only 5 blocks from my apartment - can't beat that commute.

Downsizing has helped me to shed some unnecessary stuff I had been accumulating and luckily I'm a very organized person so the narrowness of this new space wasn't really an issue for me. Off to go put it to good use now!

I think it looks great & the best part is that you really didn't have to share. I think everyone is looking at downsizing with this economy. I've had to say no to a couple conferences. But it doesn't stop me from creating.

Thanks! Indeed, the light is nice in there Dawn.

dot, you're so right: the important part is to keep creating for sure!
